I thought of posting a small screed about why I don't read i heart photograph. Then I thought better of it. So here's some stuff I like, photographs by Mu Ge from the series The Yangtse River Side and a bunch of links to things which I have enjoyed over the past couple of months.
On the heels of yesterday's Golden Half post, I want to highlight mulberry_kei, who has posted many of my favorite photos to the Golden Half Flickr group. Her Golden Half is very blurry, but it produces a pleasant effect.
This last image was my desktop image for a while. It looks better if you click through for the larger version. UN LYS LYS's photos have a precarious sense of balance; the way that the hats of the meat attendants are cut off could bother me, but it doesn't.
Blog hint: I'm liking Blogger's feature which allows you to publish posts in the future. Today's a holiday, so you can be sure I'm not sitting in front of my computer! I could have written this post yesterday, or last week even. This provides a greater incentive to edit; the 'publish post' button becomes much less important.
I want to move past the Holga for medium format stuff. I've been eying up the Mamiya C330, and Blue_Onion* only makes me want it more. I really like the way the light falls on the right side of the frame here:

You can't see this in the small version of the image that I'm posting, but if you click on it to see a larger version, you'll notice the incredible sharpness of the ground's texture. The colors in both of these photos are extremely well processed, especially the blue in the second image.
I would love to post some of my own stuff but I don't have the skills to process my photos yet. Walgreen's still owns me, but not for long... Any tips welcome in the meantime!
In lieu of posting my own material, which will come in time, I'd like to highlight people who inspire me.
I keep a close eye on Flickr, so I know when users I like have made new posts to the site. Madcappp does not put up photos very frequently, but I see a relation between these long intervals and his quiet compositions.
I know that for every image that makes it to Flickr, there must be plenty of imperfect ones. Still, I prefer to imagine that the time between posts corresponds to the conception and realization of a single idea.
Of course that's not the case, but who's to know the difference? The value of keeping an uncluttered photostream.
